OFS Instructional Event (i.e. fly tying, winter casting etc.)

Fly Tying

Tyer: Todd Bealor
Pattern: The Moorish Mouse
Recently we've had some requests for a mouse pattern so this month we'll be tying up a popular and easy to tie mouse that should be a popular addition to your fly box.
As always, all hooks, materials, and friendly camaraderie will be provided in return for a toonie donation - just bring your tools and threads. A limited number of extra tools will be available should they be required.
Doors open at 6:30pm and visitors are always welcome.

Fly Tying

The Orange Event

This month, instead of discussing and tying a particular pattern or style of fly, we'll celebrate the color orange and its ability to often trigger a fish attack or bite. From bombers and bugs, to killers, soft hackles and dries, orange has long been favoured as an effective colour. Like many fly tying styles and notions, its popularity has increased and decreased over the years - but it just keeps coming back. So come on out, join the discussion, and tie some of your favourite orange flies!

Winter Casting

This is a great opportunity to have fun, keep your casting arm in shape and to exchange information with fellow members. As in the past, there is no arrangement for formal instruction however advice and guidance on casting technique are available from some of our more experienced members on a very generous volunteer basis.
