Fly Rod Building

Postby VE3HAZ on Sat Jan 17, 2009 8:37 pm

The OFS has scheduled a fly rod building session for the Thursdays nights of February 18 and 25th from 7 to 9 PM.

"Float Paddle and Fly" has agreed to offer their classroom for these nights. Their address is 150 Robertson Road Nepean, ON, K2H 9S1, phone # 613-321-3541.

Gary Laver will be our Rod Builder Master.

As of this date there are 4 people scheduled to attend, Gary has indicated that a few more can be accommodated.

Any questions? Please feel free to call Gary (613-225-0694) or me, Sandy Haggart (613 824-4041)

Is there any cost for these sessions? I'm simply curious as to how a rod gets built more than anything else. I doubt I'll ever build my own rod.

Thanx.....

Update .. The rod building sessions have to be rescheduled due to a conflict with classroom. The new dates are to be determined ASAP.

there is no cost other than the necessary rod building kits. It would be OK to monitor the sessions if you so wish, just show up on the scheduled dates.

Just wondering who around sells individual pieces for rod building such as individual guides? I picked up a sweet little fly rod at the glebe yard sale last weekend and need to replace just one guide on it.

Evan,

Both the Drake and FP&F should have tip top guides, however finding the appropriately sized snake/stripping guides might be difficult. You might have to put a custom order in for the guide(s) you require.
